Dr. Jonathan Bezdegian, a native of Paxton, Massachusetts began his music studies at the age of seven. In 2002, he began his intensive organ instruction with Dr. Frank Corbin at Assumption College in Worcester, MA. Jonathan then transferred to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2004. While at Oberlin, he studied organ with David Boe and harpsichord with Lisa Crawford, Brett Maguire, and Webb Wiggins.
After graduating from Oberlin in 2007 with a BM in Organ Performance and a minor in Music History, He traveled to Montreal, Canada where earned his Master’s Degree in organ at McGill University with John Grew. While at McGill, Jonathan also studied organ improvisation with Dr. William Porter and harpsichord with Hank Knox. He was a frequent continuo player in the McGill Early Music Ensembles, and the McGill Baroque Orchestra, where he played continuo for Jean-Baptiste Lully’s opera, Thésée.
In March of 2018, Jonathan earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance from The University of Washington. While in Seattle, he studied organ with Dr. Carole Terry, and had the opportunity to study harpsichord with Jillon Dupree and organ improvisation with Dr. Douglas Cleveland.
Currently, Dr. Bezdegian is an Adjunct Faculty member at Assumption College where he teaches Piano, Music Fundamentals, and Music Theory. He serves as the Director of Liturgical Music at both Christ the King Parish, and St. Peter Marian High School. Dr. Bezdegian is a proud member of the Worcester Chapter AGO and serves on the Chapter’s Program Committee.
